Whale Watching tour from Reykjavik

Our tours offer a unique experience and we do our best to make this a lifetime experience for you. 

A two - three-hour whale watching adventure departing from Old harbour in downtown Reykjavik. We sail into Faxafloi bay in search of Minke and Humpback whales, Dolphins, and Harbour porpoises, and Killer whales. On this tour, you will also experience the spectacular views of the mountains and islands around Reykjavik as well as the wonderful birdlife. On board we have warm overalls, heated spacious indoor cabins, a nice bar and free wi-fi. 

NOTE: You should schedule to be at our departure point at least 30 minutes before scheduled departure. Tickets can be bought at the booking panel on the webpage and you also can buy tickets at our departure zones.

Due to government regulations, all passengers from 31st of July until further notice are required to wear face masks and respect 2 meter social distancing at all times.

Passengers may use own mask or can be purchased at the spot for 200 ISK.

We are kindly asking passengers that only 1 person of the group step in to the office for the check-in so that we can maintain 2 meter distancing.

 Covid-19 precaution:

Measures taken in our ticket office and on the boat

· Hand sanitizer available for all passengers and employees

· Common surfaces are sanitized throughout the day

· Limited number of passengers allowed on each tour to ensure that there is space for social distancing on board

· All contact surfaces on board are fully sanitized between tours

· Disposable masks and gloves are available for a small cost for passengers.

· Overalls are sanitized after each tour. However, due to the material of the suits, it is not possible for us to guarantee that all traces of potential COVID-19 has been destroyed. Overalls are available for those who want to use them.

· Buses used for pickup service are sanitized between trips.

Please be aware that due to environmental reasons during certain times of the year our trips may be delivered on a shared boat with one of our partners. At Reykjavik Sailors, we are committed to ensuring the environment is kept pristine by making sure fewer boats are on the water.  

Please note: Whale Watching is a natural activity governed by the laws of the weather. If the trip is cancelled due to bad weather, the Whale Watching ticket is refunded if the following tour was not joined before or you can change your reservation to the next available day.   

Please, check our DAILY DIARY before you come for the tour; all the important daily information of all our tours will be notified on our website.  

If you don't see a whale, you have the option to take the tour again for free.

Disclaimer for pick-ups

Pick-ups must be booked with a minimum of one hour before the tour departure time, all pick-ups booked after that will be discarded.

Whale Watching: 

January - May & 16 September - December: 13:00

June - 15 September: 14:00

March - 15. November: 9:00

Whale Watching tour last for:

Winter - approx. 3-3,5 h

Summer (1.06-15.09) - approx. 2 - 2,5 h at 9:00 & 14:00 - will be provided with the smaller and faster boat so the time on the spotting area will be the same just sailing to that point and back to harbour would be shorter
